KnowledgeOS aspires to let you save as much data as possible locally on your machine, and over time we will continue to increase your control over where your data is stored. In order to let you best collaborate with others, and work across devices, KnowledgeOS does store some of your information in the cloud. Here is an overview of exactly what is saved to Comake Cloud by default.
The settings for all your workspaces, including the workspace name, icon, description, members, roles, and settings for related Apps and Accounts are saved and synced to the cloud by KnowledgeOS. This allows you to collaborate with others and access the same basic settings across devices.
The settings for your Apps are saved and synced to the cloud by KnowledgeOS, including the type, name, icon, username, default URL, sharing settings, and related workspace for each App. This does NOT include authentication information such as passwords or the core data stored within your various Apps. If you turn on KnowledgeSync, some of the data (e.g., tabs) will be backed up to the cloud in order to be properly synced across devices. KnowledgeOS only stores authentication data (either on your device or on Comake Cloud depending on whether you have KnowledgeSync turned on) if you choose to integrate an App (requires a subscription to KnowledgeCore) and automatically index all of the information within your different .
The settings for the Accounts associated with your Saved Apps, including the username or email, sharing settings, and related Apps are saved and synced to the cloud by KnowledgeOS so that you can easily access them across devices and share them with others. This does NOT include tabs or other data not visible from the settings pages. By default all the data from the Apps related to your Accounts is also stored on your device. You can opt into backing up your data from a given account by subscribing to KnowledgeSync and KnowledgeCore. Sharing an Account with other workspace members will also require some data to be synced to Comake Cloud.
Your Contexts, including the name, icon, sharing permissions, and any resources that you save and relate to a Context are saved to the cloud by KnowledgeOS so that you can easily access them across devices and share them with others. This does NOT include any related tabs or related browsing history. It also does not include any normal browser windows not saved as Contexts (unless if you turn on KnowledgeSync). If you are subscribed to KnowledgeCore and KnowledgeTeam in order to share information related to a Context through integrated Apps, some related data may also be stored on Comake Cloud in order to help keep things in-sync across users.
All of your saved links, notes, tasks, and other resources that you purposefully and manually save in KnowledgeOS are currently stored on Comake Cloud so that you can easily access them across devices and share them with others. This does NOT include tabs or other related browsing history. In the future, you will be able to elect to have these resources stored on your device through KnowledgeSync settings.
KnowledgeOS stores anonymized redirect URLs (even when KnowledgeSync is turned off) on Comake Cloud in order to help load pages more quickly. These redirect URLs only include a given website's URL, favicon, and title. They do not include any related user or personal data.
